Fat fryer as christmas present for husband, bad idea or not?

So husband loves cooking and im rubbish at it, so he basically cooks every night. He loves battering and frying things. But is buying him a kitchen appliance for his christmas or birthday taking the pi**?

What do you think?
Would you be pissed if your partner got you a kitchen appliance as a gift?
